History of The Grove It was an exciting time in 1962 when Seattle hosted the World's Fair. This was the year that the landmark Space Needle opened as the event's centerpiece. And, yes, the inn that is now The Grove opened that same year to accommodate the many visitors to these parts, offering a haven in the scenic setting of West Seattle. Over the years, this property has seen its fair share of changes. But it wasn’t until 2011, when a West Seattle family assumed ownership, that The Grove took on a new look, and a refreshing new take on modern, clean, and comfortable lodging.
